Welcome to Studio City, CA!
As its name alludes to, Studio City owes its existence to California's film and television industry. The community, situated a dozen miles north of Los Angeles’ downtown core, got its start in the 1920s when Mack Sennett moved his filming studios to what was then a rural tract of land in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. The studios’ sound stages have been in continuous use since and today are known as the CBS Studio Center, which can be visited by scheduled tours. Not surprisingly then, the studios and the city have been graced by many past and present hit shows and celebrities. Even some of the city’s streets are well known—Mulholland Drive for its expensive homes and famous residents, and Ventura Boulevard for its prolific shopping. Visitors wanting a break from popular culture can take a stroll through Coldwater Canyon—which features miles of hiking trails and fruit orchards—or stop by the popular Studio City Farmers’ Market—which runs year round and offers tables of organic produce, face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo.Tourist Attractions
